INDOOR MEETINGS FOR 2010/2011

Meetings are held in the Sandhills Primary School, Terrett Avenue, Headington, Oxford, OX3 8FN, opposite Thornhill Park & Ride at 7:45pm. 

The venue is clearly signed and there is ample car parking, just leave your car in the car park, exit the school area and walk to the right for about 100 yards to a driveway.  The entrance to the school is on the right at the top of the driveway

Entrance is free to members. Non-members welcome, entrance £3, Students £2 (with proof of status).

We run a local group membership scheme: Annual Fee £12, which gives free entry to indoor meetings.

7 Oct 2010 "Birds of the Wetlands" Tony Hamblin

Wetland birds of Britain, the Carmargue and a few from the far end of Florida.  Tony is both an author and a prize winning photographer

 

4 Nov 2010 "Magical Merlins" Keith Offord

The talk explains the life of the Merlin showing it in its wintering and breeding grounds.  Keith has been involved for many years with Merlin studies in Wales

 

2 Dec 2010 "Wolves" Ian Rowlands

Ian is very involved in the conservation of wolves and last year spoke to us about whales and dolphins

 

13 Jan 2011 "Pharaohs Birds" John Wyatt

Our President John will talk on birds of ancient Egypt based on archaeological evidence

 

3 Feb 2011 "Wildlife crime in Oxfordshire - an update" PC Simon Towers

Simon is a wildlife crime officer and last spoke to us on the topic in 2005

 

3 March 2011 "Wild Turkey" Martin Davies

A survey of the astonishing wildlife of birds, mammals, butterflies etc of Turkey.  Martin is head of RSPB International Funding

 

7 April 2011 "Sense and Non-sense of Birds" Dr Tim Seller

A welcome return visit from a popular lecturer who last spoke to us about feathers and flight

 

5 May 2011 "Birds Watching and Conservation in the Lebanon" Chris Naylor

Chris was Director of A Rocha Lebanon for 13 years and is now Operations Director for A Rocha International

 

8 Sept 2011 "Where East meets West - Cyprus" Andy Warren

A return visit for Andy who last spoke to us about Patagonia
